The World Meteorological Organization estimated the average surface temperature for the year to be 0.81 degrees Fahrenheit higher than the normal 25.2 degrees -- a number skewed toward the low side because it includes polar regions. The agency said that warmer weather could not be attributed to any one cause but was part of a trend that global warming was likely to prolong. The agency, which collects data from forecasters worldwide, said the three hottest years since accurate records began to be kept in 1861 have all been in the past six years. The hottest was 1998, when the average temperature was up 0.99 degrees. "The rhythm of temperature increases is accelerating," said WMO deputy secretary-general Michel Jarraud. Here the 89ºF(32ºC) was the dewpoint. The high was 94ºF(34ºC) and with the dewpoint that high it made for a heat index of 130ºF(54ºC). Hurricane Gilbert held the record of lowest pressure in the Atlantic with a pressure of 888 back in 1969, but that record was broken just last year in 2005 when Hurricane Wilma formed in the Atlantic. When Wilma became a hurricane in had a pressure of 977, but within 17 hours it dropped 95 millibars to 882 milibars. She now ranks 1st in the Atlantic, but not in the world. That record goes to Typhoon Tip back on August of 1979 when it record a central pressure of 870 millibars. Back to the Atlantic out of the top 5 strongest 2 are from 2005 and they are Rita at 897 and Wilma which is 1st at 892. Katrina is just off the list at 6th with a pressure of 902. The bad news is we are in a period of strong hurricanes, so chances are good that we will see another hurricane of below 900 millibars.

Highest temperature ever on earth

First we talked about the lowest temperature ever on earth was in Russia. Well how about the hottest temperature on record on earth. Where is it located? How hot did it get"and who's the second hottest. Well the hottest place on earth ever was in Africa in El Aziz, Libya in September 13, 1922. The temperature on this day got up to 134ºF. The second highest temperature was set in North America in Death Valley, CA. It was at one time the highest ever on earth, but that record was set 9 years later in Libya. Well anyway the second highest is 134ºFThat'sts some hot weather if you ask me. Even in Antarctica the highest ever temperature was set in January of 1974 when the temperature reach 59ºF at Vanda Station, Scott Coast.

This is just an example of what you'll see on this page Thanks for checking in.

Coldest temperature ever on earth

When it gets down to 32ºF(0ºC) we say its cold or very cold. How about if we say that the coldest temperature ever recorded on earth is -128.6ºF(-89.2ºC). Well that happened on July 21, 1983 at the Vostok station on Antarctica, which is run by the Russian Federation. There is an unconfirmed report that in the winter of 1997 at the Vostok Station the low got down -132ºF(-91ºC). Now thats some cold weather. People in Florida in the United states think that -2ºF which is the lowest temperature on record is cold. They should try to visit Vostok Station is see what cold is.
